It’s finally feeling like fall here in Ohio!!! Which means it’s time for me to bust out the hot cocoa. We’re not coffee drinkers ( I know… people think we’re some sort of alien parents but we just don’t like the taste! ) so it’s lots of cocoa and tea when the weather gets cooler.
I grew up with my mom always making homemade hot cocoa and it’s a tradition I’ve carried on. But I did kinda put a twist on her classic recipe, sorry mom 😬 It’s really easy to make and something the whole family loves at our house.
Homemade Hot Cocoa ( makes 2 adult servings ) – 3 cups milk ( we always use whole milk ) – 1 Tbs cacao powder or unsweetened cocoa powder – 2 Tbs honey – 1 tsp vanilla extract – pinch of ground cinnamon ( optional ) Heat all the ingredients of low until desired temperature. Don’t boil! We keep it lukewarm when the kids are also enjoying it with us.
